Samsung
launches QLED TVs, 'The Frame'
South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics has globally launched its premium QLED TVs and latest innovation in lifestyle TV, the Frame, in Paris, France, on Tuesday.
The QLED series—Q7, Q8 and Q9—boast two main features: the quantum dot technology that provides wider color spectrum and an “invisible” cable. The latter, which is basically a single optical cord that brings all devices together, is said to be the series' key feature that will put an end to the clutter of cords.
Samsung Electronics Indonesia Marketing Director Jo Semidang told The Jakarta Post on the event's sidelines that the QLED series were expected to hit Indonesia’s stores in late April.
“The Frame will be launched in Indonesia after QLED TVs,” Jo added.
Aiming to redefine television in the age of smartphones and tablets, The Frame is Samsung’s attempt to turn lifestyle TV’s display platforms into wall art by allowing users to select custom-designed digital art pieces as TV frames.
With the new invisible optical cord and the no-gap-wall mount, Samsung stated that the Frame “looks like a picture frame hanging on a wall when ‘Art Mode’ is on.”
“We strive to provide our customers with the most advanced technology to deliver unrivaled viewing experiences and cutting-edge designs that complement their everyday lives,” said the company's Visual Display Business president, HS Kim.
